London, July 2/ Senior government officials and business executives from the United Kingdom and Nepal convened today at the House of Lords for a premier investment event designed to enhance economic collaboration between the two countries. The “Bridging Business Between UK & Nepal” event was organised by Nepal Centre UK and Nepal German Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Nepal’s Investment Board CEO Sushil Gyawali present lucrative investment opportunities in the Himalayan nation’s key sectors; including energy, tourism, and infrastructure.  Gyawali emphasised Nepal’s improved investment climate. “We’ve streamlined processes and offer attractive incentives,” he said, highlighting the country’s urgent need for foreign capital in hydropower projects, airport modernisation, and hospitality development.

Baroness Verma told attendees that Nepal’s strategic location between China and India makes it an ideal investment destination. “British businesses should seriously consider Nepal’s untapped potential,” she remarked during her speech.  While welcoming Nepal’s investment reforms, UK-based entrepreneurs raised concerns about implementation.

George Chacko, a London-based tech entrepreneur, said: “The policies sound promising, but we need to see consistent execution on the ground.” His sentiment was echoed by Rabindra Jung Lamichhane of Gini London, who cited bureaucratic hurdles as a lingering challenge.

Nepali Ambassador to UK Chandra Ghimire sought to allay these fears, assuring that his embassy would provide “full support to serious investors.” The program also shed light on Nepal’s growing creative sector. Fashion designer Sanyukta Shrestha presented case studies of successful UK-Nepal collaborations in the industry.

Organizers announced plans for a British trade delegation to visit Kathmandu later this year. Nirmal Kumar Thapa of Nepal Centre UK, which co-hosted the event, said, “Today marks the beginning of more structured economic engagement between our countries.”  The program concluded with networking sessions where several UK firms reportedly expressed interest in exploring Nepali ventures.
